About

My passion for all things horticultural started as a young man when I had the opportunity of taking up a work experience placement with the borough council's grounds maintenance department whilst still at school.  I undertook my placement with a certain amount of trepidation not really knowing what to expect or what was expected of me. I soon realised that the best way to learn was to get stuck in, and that is just what I did.  My enthusiasm grew and I realised that, unlike many of my peers who were unhappy with their placements, I actually enjoyed what I was doing.  Even better, my supervisors were pleased with my work and obviously saw potential in me because I was offered a job and one month later I left school to embark on what was to be the start of my career.

The good thing about working for a large organisation is the opportunity to further your education.  It wasn't long before I realised my main area of interest was in Groundmanship and Turf Management.  Maybe it was because it combined my two passions - sport and horticulture, but whatever the reason my heart was set on becoming the greatest groundsman in Somerset!

I soon realised that there would be a great deal of training, studying and just plain old hard work if I wanted to achieve anything. Fortunately I had the support of my employers who encouraged me to attend a day release course at Cannington College in Bridgwater.

During this time I also took on the part-time role of Groundsman for a local non-league football club. This was a great place to put into practice all my training, and of course it also got me into quite a few free games!  But soon the challenge was not enough and I wanted bigger and better things.  So I found myself successfully applying for the position of Head Groundsman at a professional football club.  My desire to improve and develop my skill set has led to subsequent employment as a Groundsman at large schools.

As my skill and knowledge base grew I decided to start my own gardening services business.  Inevitably life has thrown its invariable twists and turns at me along the way, but throughout all this my constant aim has been to grab every opportunity to expand my training and knowledge and to provide the best service and standards in whatever role I have undertaken.

Throughout my career I have continued to gain further qualifications which are available for you to check                     in order for you to have peace of mind in the knowledge that you are entrusting care of your lawns to a well qualified and enthusiastic professional groundsman.

Consequently I am able to offer a service based on my knowledge, experience and training to provide the best possible advice and treatment plans to promote healthier, more manageable gardens for you to enjoy.  It is a decision you will not regret.
